WAA joins #Africa4Her /WAA rejoint #Africa4Her

WOMEN & AFRICA INTERNATIONAL (WAA) is a faith-based international organization dedicated to build a better future for the continent of Africa and women across the globe. We aim to improve the lives of the youth and women, particularly those living on the African continent. Therefore, we have naturally made the decision to join #Africa4Her 2016, a YALI network-wide initiative to raise awareness about the importance of investing in women and girls. 

WOMEN & AFRICA INTERNATIONAL (WAA) est une organisation internationale dédiéà construire un avenir meilleur pour le continent africain et les femmes à travers le monde. Nous visons a améliorer les conditions de vie de la jeunesse et les femmes, surtout celles vivant sur le continent africain. Naturellement, nous avons décider de rejoindre la campaigne #Africa4Her 2016, une initiative du réseau YALI pour sensibiliser l'importance d'investir dans l'avenir des filles et des femmes. 

Our vision is to spread a positive image of women and Africa around the globe. Our mission is to empower and to inspire girls, women and the youth on the African continent and in the Diaspora. This month of March, we will start our activities; details will be posted on our various online platforms and shared in our newsletter. We believe that we can make a positive change in the lives of girls and women with your support. Are you ready?

Notre vision est de diffuser une image positive de la femme et de l'Afrique dans le monde entier. Notre mission est d'habiliter et inspirer les filles, les femmes et les jeunes sur le continent africain et dans la diaspora. Ce mois de Mars, nous allons commencer nos activités; les détails seront diffusés sur nos différentes plate-formes en ligne et partagées dans notre bulletin d'information. Two American graduate students raise funds for South African students with The Project Ubuntu

Inspired by their recent summer study abroad program in South Africa, Elizabeth Patterson and Amber Lodman made the decision to create The Ubuntu Project upon their return to their home country, the United States of America.  The Project Ubuntu is a grassroots fundraising effort to help students of the Bachana Mockwena and Reinotswe special schools in South Africa.  Elizabeth Patterson and Amber Lodman, the two founders of the Project Ubuntu, started the fundraiser with the aim of providing funds for infrastructure building as well as dinning halls for meals. This summer of 2013, they both went to South Africa to study education and social reform.

Five powerful African women

Forbes has just released the official list of the world's 100 most powerful women of 2013. I am not sure which criteria Forbes experts used. Based on the list, they have probably included criteria such financial or diplomatic influence. However, I was disappointed to notice the insignificant representation of African women on the list. This may be partly explained by the background of those in charge of the selection.
