The number of African billionaires on Forbes 2018 list of the continent's richest rose to 20, with only two women: Isabel dos Santos and Folorunsho Alakija.
Isabel dos Santos is ranked as the ninth richest person on the African continent with a wealth evaluated to a net worth of 2.7 billions built on investment. The 44-year old billionaire and oldest daughter of Angola's longtime former president Jose Eduardo dos Santos is also the second youngest on the 2018 Forbes list.

Folorunsho Alakija is ranked as the fifteenth richest person and the second richest woman on the African continent with a wealth evaluated to a net worth of 1.6 billion built on oil. The 67-year old billionnaire is the vice chair of Famfa oil, a Nigerian oil exploitation company whose partners include Chevron and Petrobras. According to Forbes, the first company of the Nigerian businesswoman was a fashion label whose customers included the wife of former Nigerian Ibrahim Babangida. On Twitter, she openely shares her Christian faith.
